Three Rules That Make It Work
Buy neutral, add colour with flowers
Every item on this list is neutral — ivory, cream, brass, clear glass. Colour comes from the flowers, and flowers change with the season. This means you buy this set once and use it for years, just changing the stems from tulips in spring to dahlias in autumn.
Light the candles, always
This is non-negotiable. Candlelight makes everything look better — the food, the faces, the table. Even the plainest setting becomes warm and inviting the moment the tapers are lit. Never host a dinner party by overhead light alone.
Space matters more than stuff
Resist the urge to fill every inch of the table. Generous space between place settings (at least 45cm) looks more luxurious than crowding in extra decorations. Less on the table, more room for guests.
